So today was the great day for us Final Fantasy XIII Saga fans! As we expected, today 1st September was announced the third and last sequel of Final Fantasy XIII, called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Apparently Lightning will be the only playable character, in a real-time gameplay with alternances between day and night, since the plot is that the world's gonna end in thirteen days. She has to fight her final battle to save it.
This is the world in which the game takes place, Novus Partus. It's said it floats in the Sea of Chaos, and it features the city of Luxerion, where people worships the god Bhunivelze, with its monorail, green plains, a desert and faraway ruins. As you can see, Bhunivelze, the New Cocoon designed by our silver-haired genius Hope Estheim, still floats in the sky. Falling the waterfalls means falling into the nothingness for eternity, so we can assume this is kind of a suspended world in a spiral of entropy, the "eternal paradox" Caius Ballad mentioned.
So... Let's analyze this. If I remember well, Caius said Etro's death would lead the world in merging with Valhalla. Etro's Shrine is STILL in Novus Partus, in the city of Luxerion; furthermore, the city looks suspiciously similar to the city we saw in Valhalla. Wasn't the city close to the sea? I think I'm not wrong if I say Luxerion is the city formerly surrounding Etro's Shrine. There's people living there... Maybe the former residents of Gran Pulse? Maybe only the ones with magic powers survived? Can they still die in a world without time? Or are they dead and living in Luxerion as corporeal spirits? Because we can assume this world is actually Valhalla merged with Gran Pulse. And... could be Caius the one who created the city and all that? Remember the secret-non-revealing-ending-bit of Final Fantasy XIII-2!
Plains, deserts... That's not really interesting. Looks part of Gran Pulse; that desert reminds me of the Archylte Steppe, but don't pay me so much attention in that guessing.
I'd rather focus into the ruins we see far away from Luxerion, the place in which we'll obviously start. The New Cocoon floats over these ruins, huh? And it's still intact.
Oh, LET-ME-GUESS...
Ruins? HA! Look at the shape of that building! Don't remind you of something? EXACTLY! It's the same shape of the Academy HQ! So that'd mean, the ruins are the ruined city of Academia, where everything ended and started! It's pretty obvious since the New Cocoon floats exactly above this ruined city!
Besides... the New Cocoon looks like a perfect settlement for a final battle. Above the ruins of Academia. And remember, almost everyone of our former characters -Hope, Noel, Sazh, Vanille, Fang and Serah's corpse- got engulfed by Chaos THERE. Oooooh, that makes me wonder if Lightning's gonna be the only playable character for ALL the game. Maybe it is, but I believe... we're gonna see everyone again! Sooner or later! *w*
Random thoughts I wanted to share with someone. But I firmly believe on this! This game's gonna be released in 2013, nice year for Final Fantasy XIII's last chapter. Looks gothic and the monsters are AWESOME. Oooh, I want it NOW! This was worth the wait! <3
But please, Square-Enix, give us a bit of Hope/Light in the end. Something! Or, at least, don't ruin it! <3
But I just want Light and Hope to be a pairing at least. It would work so well :3 I really hope that Square makes them a pairing but in a real heartwarming way would would be great
I'm still trying to figure out how the events of XIII-2 could work out in XIII-3 (I was kind of wondering how Hope would end up in XIII-3) I did come up with a theory, maybe because Hope had caught hold of Mog as the Chaos was unleashed, maybe Mog was able to escape from Chaos taking Hope with him. Or maybe Mog had also turned to crystal stasis the same time as Lighting did causing Hope to turn to crystal stasis too as he held onto him.
This also could be the reason why Noel is not mentioned to be in XIII-3.
Yeah, other than that I don't really have much of an idea about what is going to happen. >< My god, I can normally come up with something but this time I'm completely bubbled by this xD
I also want to know if Serah is truly gone... only game to make me hardcore cry T_T
I want Hope/Light..one short scene with there reuinite and I'm happy
I'm sure they'll eventually appear. Hope, Noel, Sazh and everyone, I mean. Well, if Bhunivelze is still floating in the sky, people MUST talk about Hope! He was the one who directed its construction!
I wonder if Hope, Noel, Sazh, Vanille and Fang got trapped somewhere aroun the ruins of Academia... [?] OwÓ
Uhm the bhunivelze they speak over is not the bunivhelze hope created like i unterstood. this must be the god bhunivelze
this could be. someone there
Yeah, or maybe they're alive and living somewhere in Novus Partus. I mean, it's a world merged with Valhalla, where time doesn't exist; Lightning didn't age while she was there. Oooh, you're walking around the city, or in the desert, or whatever, and then you bump into Hope, Noel or Sazh, just imagine it! <3
And if Light's wandering Novus Partus alooooone... what'd happen if she meets Hope? Tee hee hee. [?] =]Anyway, I'm pretty sure we'll meet Caius again, that's almost for sure. And maybe Yeul. Oh my gosh, Yeul's ultimate spirit form seen in Light's DLC chapter as the final boss. OH MY GOSH. [?] *w*
This would be so cool you think you are alone and then you bump into hope. The most close alive person who left. this would be so emotional
Yeul the ultimate boss..yeah she is more evil than caius lol
